This morning my alarm went off along with the church bells signaling the start to the normal routine. The girls were a bit sluggish in getting out of bed this morning. I made myself an English muffin and cleaned the kitchen before going back to my room. I was going to sleep again, but got on the computer instead. I found a random movie: For the Love of a Child. It’s about fighting child abuse. Maybe I’ll become a nurse to children who experience abuse.
Nancy asked me to do some cleaning since the cleaning lady didn't come today. I vacuumed, swept, and did some laundry. The new couch arrived along with the return of the Polish workers. The yellow couch eventually ended up in my room. The cushions were incredibly dusty so we took them out on the veranda and I beat them for a good half hour with a broom. It helped air them out as well as release the dust.
For dinner, Gloria and Nancy made pizza, which turned out pretty good. While eating we watched Germany v. Sweden in handball. I’d never seen the sport before, but it was really interesting to watch and looks like fun. It’s a fast-paced game.
After dinner, I helped Helena study some English vocabulary. I said the German word and she said the English. She kept correcting my pronunciation, which I asked her to, but I got frustrated with myself for not being able to copy her perfectly. Practice makes perfect! It kind of makes me want to push harder in studying the basics again. I helped Gloria play spider solitaire and then we looked at lots of pictures. It was a nice evening.
